I mentioned an impromptu celebration for Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche's birthday; it happened this way.
Before the morning teachings yesterday, several people walked around handing out "googly eyes." You can see what they look like in the picture above. One of the folks explained that we were to put them on after Khenpo took his seat, before beginning the morning prayers. Then, at a signal, we were to release the "stalks" of the eyeballs so they would spring out and bounce around.
All went as planned, to everyone's delight including Khenpo, who found a set of "googlies" at his seat and put them on to google back at us.
One of the things I love about my teachers is that they have a wonderful sense of humor!
